Fishing at Verdun
Fishing is one of the strong points of Verdun, from the banks or from a boat, by keen fishermen or as a distraction for the whole family; it offers highly beneficial conditions as three rivers, all of second category, mix happily their waters: the Saône, the Doubs and a bit further, the Dheune. The great silurid swims besides the bleak, carnivorous fishes and carps are abundant. Small fry fishing will take place in the small Doubs; the Saône banks offer a good walk along the towpaths and a small boat on the Doubs is a real treat.

In the public domain, there are two large rivers of second category:

  •  the Doubs, with its enclosed embankments full of surprising depth changes.

  •  the Saône, a quiet river with flat banks of easy access for most of its course.

Owned privately:

- la Dheune: a river of second category. A quiet place good for fishing.
- the Small Doubs and the Small Saône are also quite attractive.
